The submission of nominations for the 2024 general election ended today (11) at 12 noon.
The Election Commissioner General Mr. Saman Sri Ratnayake said while addressing the media that 690 teams are going to compete for the 22 election districts for the 2024 general election.
He also stated at the press conference that 74 nominations have been rejected. The highest number of political groups are contesting from Digamadulla constituency and the least number of groups are contesting from Moneragala and Polonnaruwa constituencies.
The Election Commissioner General further said that the respective preference numbers for the candidates will be given in the near future and if they feel that there has been any injustice, those groups can go to court.
