50 million rupees to provide relief to people affected by disasters

resident Anura Kumara Dissanayake has instructed the Ministry of Finance to allocate 50 million rupees to provide relief to the people affected by the bad weather.

It is also stated that the President has informed the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense to pay special attention to the safety of the people in the districts affected by floods and landslides, and to provide the necessary support for the efficient implementation of relief services.

It is further stated that the President has informed the government officials to coordinate properly the reliefs that to be provided. 

As informed by the Disaster Management Center, 24,492 people in 6,018 families have been affected due to floods and landslides in 11 districts due to bad weather conditions.

Through the Office of the Chief of Defense Staff, relief services have been started in coordination with the government officials in all the disaster affected districts and 2,200 people from 584 families have been safely detained in 23 relief centers.
