The previous government had decided to sell the shares of SriLankan Airlines due to losses over the years. Thus, a 51% share was to be kept under the government and the remaining 49% was to be sold to investors.
But it has been reported on the TTG Asia website that the new government of Sri Lanka has decided to abandon the plan to sell the shares.
That report states that SriLankan Airlines Chairman Sarath Ganegoda said that the necessary restructuring will be done to make SriLankan Airlines a more profitable airline.
