Decision on the date of the electricity workers' strike in the future

The General Secretary of the Ceylon Electricity Board Ranjan Jayalal states that the date of commencement of the strike will be announced in the next few days. He further stated that the campaign launched against the Yugadanav Agreement was a great success.

"Although a gazette notification has been issued naming several institutions including oil and port as essential services, it is doubtful that the CEB has not been included in it, perhaps to remove the CEB from this country and hand it over to another country or to sell the CEB already illegally" He has been stated in the media .

Oil, port and electricity workers staged an agitation yesterday (03) demanding the withdrawal of the government's plan to sell 40% of the Yugadanav power plant to an American company, including the sale of national resources. Although the day of the strike was to be declared at the end of the day, the workers decided to strike after few days'  because of the  innocent people queuing for rice, gas, sugar, milk powder, cement, on these days.
