The convener of the Samagi Trade Unions Collective Ananda Palitha has expressed a controversial opinion regarding the price of fuel while participating in a discussion on a radio channel.
He has said that the government is telling contradictory stories about lowering the fuel price and the corporation is currently getting 11 billion in profit per month.
He points out that as Mr. Anura Dissanayake stated before becoming the president, an additional tax of fifty rupees is being charged for a liter of oil even when the oil corporation has no debt. Accordingly, he further points out that the price of oil can be reduced by 82 rupees with those 50 rupees.
